Welcome to a life-changing musical experience like no other! Join us this summer at our Music Lovers Camp where we celebrate music’s joy and beauty in a fully inclusive, safe environment. Our camp is designed to empower blind, low vision, and DeafBlind young adults, ages nineteen to twenty-nine, to explore, create, and connect through the universal language of music on beautiful Bowen Island.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics, an experienced musician seeking to refine your skills, or a shower singer, our camp has something for everyone. Participants from across Canada can share their passion for music, songwriting, jamming and much more. Our camp provides a unique opportunity for campers to work with the talented Masceo Williams of MEW Productions. Campers will also be able to share their love of music with younger blind, DeafBlind, and low vision campers.
But our camp is more than just music; it’s a community. It’s a place where friendships are formed, confidence is built, and dreams are realized. It’s a place where barriers are broken down, and possibilities are endless. A spot where campers will meet people who share some of the same challenges they experience and gain valuable skills that support full participation in community music programs alongside sighted peers.
And if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, this music camp balances recreation and skills learning, with a focus on fun and friendship! Campfires, hikes, community outings, self-defense, swimming/boating, and board games are just some of the activities Camp Bowen offers. The skills taught through these fun activities support life-long independence and build confidence.
So come join us this summer and discover the transformative power of music through fun activities. Showcase your talents to friends, family and people from the community at our end of camp concert! We will create a symphony of sounds that will resonate long after the campfire has dimmed.
